CBC take over Hospital parking

Crawley Labour's administration are working for all Crawley residents.  We have identified an opportunity to help people trying to park at Crawley Hospital as well as helping staff with their parking and, in addition, utilising CBC resources, both staff and car parks, better.  We are pleased to have been able to pull this together.  The details are in this press release.

Good news for Crawley Hospital visitors

Visitors to Crawley Hospital will find it easier to park on-site when Crawley Borough Council takes over the management of the car park.

The council has agreed a contract with NHS Property Services to manage the car park.

As part of the agreement, alternative off-site parking places for 40 staff will be provided at the council’s Orchard Street multi-storey car park on a pilot basis. A staff update will be issued after discussion with Crawley Hospital service providers.

Remedial works to lines and signs to make the car park compliant with the legislation the council works under will start on 2 March. The council’s management of the car park will start on 1 April.

Councillor Chris Oxlade, Cabinet member for Community Engagement, said: “Parking as close to the hospital as possible is vital for many patients and visitors. Hospital parking is horrendous and this deal will mean that many more spaces are available to them, while staff are able to park in close proximity. I’d like to thank the NHS for agreeing to this change for the benefit of hospital patients and visitors.”

Councillor Colin Lloyd, Cabinet member for Environment, said: “This is great news for patients and visitors. The agreement will make better use of both car parks by allowing those in most need to park as close as possible to the hospital. Crawley Borough Council brings great expertise in the management of car parking and a strong customer service ethos to this agreement.”

Barry Young, NHS Crawley CCG Chief Finance Officer, said: “NHS Crawley CCG has been working closely with Crawley Borough Council and NHS Property Services to ensure that access to NHS services at Crawley Hospital is constantly improved so our patients get the best possible care.

“Alongside this we know we also need to look after hardworking NHS staff and ensure we provide safe, convenient parking arrangements for all.”
