Labour councillors call for action on flooding

Labour Councillors are calling for action to prevent the continued flooding that has taken place in Crawley. They have written to MP Henry Smith, contacted the Environment Agency and are working with residents and the owners of the Ifield Gables care home in an effort to get some action.

Labour Councillors are now working hard to ensure that action is taken to protect the west of Crawley and the Ifield area from further flooding by calling on the responsible authorities to take action to protect the west of Crawley from flooding.

Cllr Peter Smith (Labour, Ifield) said,

"We have had a re-run of the flooding that took place on Xmas Eve and we are calling for urgent action to stop the recurring flooding. Other areas of Crawley have had flood remediation schemes completed but Ifield seems to keep getting missed out and we think that it is time that Ifield got some help."

Cllr Brenda Smith (Labour, Langley Green and leader Labour group WSCC) said,

"We are calling on West Sussex County Council to take some action to prevent this flooding. It is inexcusable that Ifield Avenue has to suffer repeated flooding as a main artery in to the Town and Ifield Drive should have improvements or repairs to the drainage schemes."
