I was born in Crawley and have lived here all my life. I was educated in Local Schools, Pound Hill infant and middle school and then Hazelwick. I have six children and all were born in Crawley hospital. I have lived in Bewbush for the last ten years and I have worked in the local school, Bewbush Academy, as a Teaching Assistant for years.
I am a member of local organisations like Bewbush Action group and Talk Bewbush which support local people with local issues. I help run a campaign to save the play areas in Bewbush. Out of eleven we saved nine and four have been improved. There is a five year programme to update the play equipment in the nine saved play areas.
I supported Talk Bewbush to run a campaign to save the playing field in Bewbush, when the then Tory run Council proposed to build houses on it. This could have affected our children’s health with less areas for them to play. The campaign was very successful and stopped the building of houses in this area. However, we do need housing and there have been new houses built on the old leisure centre site, 40% of which are social housing, and flats built on the Bewbush shops car park, all of which are social housing, taking people off the waiting lists.
If re-elected I intend to continue to work hard for Bewbush.
