Mike Pickett

Mike has lived in Southgate for over 30 years. He’s married, with three children and previously worked as an advocate in the legal system.

Mike has a strong track record of community activity, particularly in Southgate, where he was the founding chairman of both the Southgate Community Forum and the Southgate Conservation Area Advisory Committee. He has also served as a school governor at St Wilfrid’s and Vice Chair of Crawley’s Citizens Advice Bureau.

Following the resignation of the previous Southgate councillor in 2014, Mike was successfully elected at a by-election to serve the remaining months of that seat’s term. Whilst his time on the council was brief, Mike is proud of the improvements to Southgate he kicked-off during his term of office and is seeking to return to the council next year to continue to work on behalf of Southgate’s local community.

In Crawley (Southgate) Mike's achievements include:

  • Founding chairman of Southgate Community Forum
  • Founding chairman Southgate Conservation Area Advisory Committee
  • Previously governor at St Wilfrid's School
  • Previously vice-chair Crawley Citizens' Advice Bureau
